indeed they did and speaking to my dad when he was still with us he said the general view amongst Plymouth supporters at the time was that, amazing is it may sound, it was a deliberate strategy.
Maybe that feeling is still infectious down there, and how a certain out of work former Slime manager got it in his head that we don't want promotion ! 🤣

Torquay fans said much the same when thy were riding high in the then Division 3 - 'we can't afford to go up'.

No game, and we drop one place to fourth with Northampton leap frogging us., the Vegans stall against Micheal Flynn's Walsall at home, and whilst we are now fourth and still 13 points behind the Vegans, win our game in hand and we are up to second and ten points behind them, with two games in hand on Tranmere who also appear to be faltering.

There are currently six games on Tuesday, of which only three include clubs in the top ten (including Northampton away to bottom club Scunthorpe) and our opposition next Saturday Rovers away to Leyton Orient, which hopefully will be a physical battle for them.

So on Tuesday night we could be even further away from the Autos than we are now, but we will then have two games in hand on Northampton and Swindon and Port Vale will have played the same as us.

March is going to be a telling month for our charge in more ways than one, let's hope this mini break this weekend helps those players that were showing signs of fatigue

We now have THREE games in hand over second placed Tranmere who are just 3 points ahead of us.

Agreed and then if results have continued in a similar manner to now then the home game against Rochdale is going to have to be a must win.

If we go into the last two final games needing more than a point to secure a top three finish we are likely to be screwed because as sure as God made little apples, regardless where Northampton may be in the league, we ain’t going to come away from six fields with anything.

Bottom line we really need to have achieved promotion before the last two games.

Yes but once we make up the game in hand over Northampton and The Vegans then this will also include Tranmere and therefore we will have TWO games in hand on them with the same points if we win which was my point

Normally around 80 points takes you up automatically so another 30 should see us good.
Yep, 9 wins out of 16 is definitely possible and add in a 2-3 draws and we should make it.

One thing that struck me when I looked closely at the table is that, other than FGR, we’ve lost at least 3 fewer games than our immediate competitors. If we can continue that form till the end of the season, that’ll give us a great chance.
