Can't believe that we are still only 7th, given 10 points from the last 4 games and the results for other sides where at least a couple are dropping points every week.
The games in hand might be useful, but of course we need to take advantage.
Orient are in a bit of a slump but they are still the side who beat us easily in August, so we need not be complacent.
Keep playing like the last half hour today and we will be laughing though

Potentially most significant is the fact that Tranmere have lost a bit of form which means we still have a realistic chance of catching them and are competing for 2 promotion places, not just one.

We always seem to have Tranmere away around Easter time when we're in with a sniff of the autos.

And lose.

Kerching 3 points thank you very much Swindon, swap places with them into the play offs, now 10 points from 12, only conceded 1 goal in the last five league matches, currently got 2nd equal best goal difference in the division (equal with Tuesdays opponents Orient), and also got the second least defeats in the division (pesky bloody draws). four points off the Autos and eight points off Tranmere with two games in hand, things are moving!

Tuesday night sees a full night of fixtures across the division the main ones affecting the pack of ten are:-
Home TeamPositionCurrent Home form positionAway TeamPositionCurrent Away Form PositionPredictionPoints after predictionPoints after Prediction
Carlisle2213Port Vale98Draw2841
Vegans12Rochdale1823Home Win6530

Northampton 411Newport County512Draw4948
Sutton Utd34Salford City106Home Win5140
Tranmere Rovers23Swindon Town813Home win5543

Regrettably not anticipating much encroachment on the Autos after Tuesday's matches with the top four sides at home and should mean home wins, but Northampton and Tranmere playing two of the pack in Newport and Swindon both of whom are no slouches away from home (particularly bearing in mind Swindon's home form, and Newport will be looking to bounce back from losing to the Vegans). Hopefully we shall avenge our defeat earlier in the season to the O's which will should bring us up to 47 points, and may lift up one place should Newport not respond. On the positive if results go as planned we could see a gap presenting itself between the last play off place and 8th spot.

Over the past couple of weeks although we haven't seen the emergence of a dark horse yet some of the less fancied sides like Barrow and Crawley have been having a say, we face Barrow on the 19th of this month and Crawley next month.

I take it Malc. that you weren't expecting Sutton to drop two points at home to the Gas yesterday, a mistake which looking at the highlights can be placed on the goalie for bringing down the Gas's player running away from the Goal

The emergence of Stubbs and Diabate and the fact that Sparkes and Nombe are looking sharp means we now have a very strong looking first-choice team. Add Hartridge to the team that finished against Swindon and you have 11 players who have either played at a higher level or look like they have the potential to do so in the near future. It will be interesting to see how often we are able to get that strongest team on the pitch and whether the back-up players can play to the same level.

In fairness the Gas probably deserved a point, but weren't getting it till Bouzanis, who can be a bit scatter-brained, brought the player down for no obvious reason..

Another game chalked off and another win. On a real roll points wise. Lady Luck helped in that dismal game last night but we know we can play a lot better.

Win Ugly if you must but a win is three points and our charge continues, we are now up to sixth after Newport's defeat to Northampton last night who moved into third after Sutton's lacklustre draw. We are still four points behind Northampton with a game in hand. We are also 8 points behind Tranmere who are in second but we have two games in hand on them.
We move forward with our charge to Valley Parade Bradford (or the Utilita Energy Stadium - God I hate these sponsored stadium names), where there will be 15000 Yorkshiremen baying for blood and possibly not ours eh Mr Adams? The longer we can hold out the more likely they are to turn on their "loyal" manager and players! A win on Saturday will bring us up to the half century of points and depending on results elsewhere up a further place or two in the table

Other matches among the top ten with their current form (last 6 matches at home or away) are :-

So only the two matches at Port Vale and Sutton which includes both sides within the top ten and where a draw is the best result (unless of course you discount the Vegans in view of how far ahead they are and hope for them to win). Also hoping that Bristol Rovers can shake off their 'shock' defeat last night away to Oldham, to beat Mansfield on Saturday. Oldham may be putting a run together that's two wins on the trot as they battle for EFL survival but they have a difficult task on Saturday against Newport who themselves are looking to shake off a similar run of the opposite kind with two defeats in a row. Could be a case of competing desires that of survival or that to succeed, from experience survival can put up a mean fight!

If the saying 'goals win games, but clean sheets win titles' is anywhere near correct, then our last 6 games suggests that the autos are a real possibility now.

Before our next 'six-pointer' (against Mansfield) we have five matches versus lower-ranked sides:

Orient 15th
Bradford 12th
Harrogate 11th
Barrow 19th
Bristol Rovers 13th

Anything less than 12 points here would be disappointing. If we do take 12 (or a full house) we could find ourselves in the autos.
So far, so good.
