Bit of a strange signing for Swindon, seeing as they are quite a ’big’ Club in League Two. Sweeney has his moments but can also look very average. They blow hot and cold with their finances Swindon, so maybe they have cut their budget and outlook accordingly or they think he’s a decent player who in the right environment and with different coaching can be a more consistent player that he didn’t always appear to be at Exeter.
Swindon are up $4!t creek without a paddle at the moment. Internal wrangling, possibly the worst season in their history on the pitch last season, going through managers like dishwater in recent seasons to mention a few things going on there.

Good signing for Swindon and a loss for us. He has become much more consistent with his defending and he was one of the best crossers at the club. People who thought he dropped too many clangers were not remembering he's still relatively young. He's now 26 and coming into his prime. Always thought he needed a little more height to play at a higher level as a centre back, but very good league 2 maybe league 1 defender.

The biggest issue with Sweeney is his lack of pace. He makes up for it with his strength but if he ever gets caught out of position he will drop a clanger because he can't chase back.

Last season he was dog but this season he was much better and I would definitely have preferred him to stay.

Yeah so would have I, but don't think, like with Taylor or Parkes he's irreplaceable, good luck to him though, never would fault him for effort.

Matt Taylor clearly thinks Sam Stubbs will be a better option for us next season and that therefore Pierce won’t be that much of a loss. With Dyer and Diabate hopefully challenging for the first team as well I’m inclined to agree but only time will tell if he’s right.

Sounds like he had a good offer and fresh start a player you could never fault for effort all the best to him.

Best wishes and thanks to Pierce.
Swindon have been all over the place recently, but they have made a couple of recruitments in the last little while.
Perhaps the luck of the Irish?
