Yes why would a team which had literally recouped a series of record-breaking transfer fees and gained a promotion for the first time in a decade want to invest in new signings? What a silly question that is. Look at recent history, right? All the teams that were recently promoted from League Two and failed to invest are now absolutely thriving...

Glad we have level-headed and not-at-all-patronising people like you around to keep us grounded.
Maybe because instead of investing in new players, they’ve invested in keeping the promotion-winning squad together.

Yep a lot of new contracts were dished out mid-way through last season. Dieng signed one didn't he?

We are definitely going to have a problem next summer with all the contracts that will be up. Not at all unreasonably our players will be saying that as they are now established L1 players they should be receiving wages that reflect that status; if we can't / won't pay them that there will be plenty of interest from clubs that can....

Edit: Assuming we stay up that is!

Another excellent performance must be giving MT’s targets something to think about.

As others have said Dieng accepted a new contract for two more years mid season. Diabate and Sweenz likewise this summer, it is certainly being addressed.
