The Shire produced the shock of the Scottish Cup 3rd round,by beating Livingsone 2-1..

Their reward is a home tie against Premier League Dundee United...The temporary groundshare with Stenhousemuir, has worked womders for East Stirlingshire's form so far this season...

Shire were Division 3 last I looked. Tie of the round has to be Hibs v Hearts.

Might it have anything to do with the arrival of Colin Cramb at the Club?

Elgin City who have taken over from The Shire as the 3rd Division whipping boys, have been ordered to replay their 3rd round cup game against Spartans.Elgin won 2-1,but their keeper was ineligible, having signed after the original date the game was due to be played on..

They were lucky. The English FA would have kicked a club out of the competition, for a similar misdemeanor, south of the border..

The Shire travel to Elgin on Saturday, whats the odds that East Stirlingshire's wheels come off!!

Highland League,Forres Mechanics are through to the 4th round of the Scottish Cup & will play Forfar or Stranraer at Mosset Park, which has the largest capacity in the Highland league (5,500)..A lot of the standing area's at that ground are grass banking(as are most Highland grounds) so lets hope its dry,if a decent crowd turn up...A very tidy ground on my visit a couple of seasons ago...

The Can-cans once got to the 5th round in 1953 & have a chance of getting that far again..

Ayr United's game at Lochee United, who are based in the Dundee area, has been postponed for the 5th time, which has prompted Ayr to request the game be played at a netural venue. This has been rejected by the SFA..

They have some way to beat the record for cup postponements, which was 33 for the game between Airdreonians & Stranraer in 1962-63

A expensive mistake,Spartans won the replay 2-1.....Ironically Spartans also fielded a ineligible player in the first game as well!!!....Perhaps that was why the SFA did not kick Elgin out of the competition...

The game was finally played on Weds early afternoon (no lights) & Lochee had the best result in their history, drawing 1-1 against the 2nd Division side....The reply is next Tuesday at Somerset Park....Ayr have the incentive of a Ayrshire derby against Kilmarnock in the next round....

Lochee lost 3-0 today,to grecIAN Harris's old team...
