Another good win for England bheys.
Not a good advert for the current 6 nations competition. A weakened Irish team showed glimpses while England struggled to make their mark. Farrell gave away 3 penalties in the first 15 mins, Haskell is still a liability while Mike Brown was very lucky not to get red carded. Jack Nowell had a rather peripheral game although he had his moments - especially a try saving tackle on Ireland's Henshaw. The big game will be against the Welsh in a fortnights time. If we can win that then I can't why we shouldn't o the Grand Slam.

Nearly dropped off first half. Don't like the modern game one bit, despite the occasional flash of brilliance; the emphasis on quick recycling and blanket defence the pitch has become far too crowded now. Maybe the answer is 13 a side, a la RL, get rid of the flankers who's job nowadays is done by props, centres and second rowers hitting the outside half or spread out along the 'wall'.

Another thing, why isn't the clock stopped while the scrums are being set, one scrum took nearly 3 minutes out of the game yesterday. Seems to me they're trying to make the game into a 'made for TV' version of American football anyway, so why not stop the clock and start once the ball is actually 'in play'.

The Chiefs Dave Ewers and Manu Tuilagi of Leicester Tigers have been added to the England's training squad prior to the game against the Welsh at Twickenham this coming Saturday. While Tuilagi may find a place on the bench, Ewers, who has been out injured for quite a lengthy period, is probably there so the England coach staff can assess him for the summer tour to New Zealand.

Jack Nowell and Luke Cowan-Dickie in the England squad against Wales this Saturday at Twickenham (4pm).

Nowell starts while LCD is on the bench.

Phew! That was close! After dominating Wales for 60 minutes, the Welsh suddenly came alive. The rot set in for England when Biggar charged down George Ford's clearance to score, and when Cole was yellow carded for bringing down a maul they quickly added a further 2 tries to leave England's 14 men struggling to maintain their 25-21 lead.

Exeter's Luke Cowan-Dickie added to his caps by coming on for the last 9 or 10 minutes while Jack Nowell, who was industrious throughout the game, had little chance to add to his try tally.

So with the Triple Crown done and dusted, all that remains is to win the Grand Slam against the French in Paris on Saturday.

Not much scintillating rugby was on view during this seasons 6 Nations but England winning the 'Grand Slam' does help to deaden the pain.

Congrats to Foxy on winning his bet (y)

Did enjoy that last one. The new second row pairing is really shaping up well, potentially. Itoje is an auxiliary back rower with his speed, foraging and turnover work, big George dominating the line out.

Amazing difference a couple of young players make to the largely shambolic team from the WC. Oh, and an Aussie coach.
