Nor do they carry old age pension books. :)
Yes this is MT’s first permanent signing of a player under 27. The five players signed in the summer Forte, Martin, Martin, Law and Oates had an average age of just under 30. It is very good that he has at last made a permanent signing of somebody in the first half of his twenties.

That was what you meant wasn’t it?

I may be over-thinking this (what, me?) but as I read MT's comments it's bigger than the "normal" 20%. But we probably won't know unless and until he moves on for a fee. He'll be over 24 when his contract expires, though - just turned 22.

The way I read it,perhaps optimistically, is that the selling club think they are better off with a % of profit than asking for an up front fee. ( had they paid a fee to sign him in the first instance?). That would justify a bigger % if we really would have had to otherwise stump up a fee.

Looks like a really good signing.

I was thinking more of the ageing gimps signed by the previous manager. :) Cannot recall his name.

He seems a good player got no problem with the clause, but expect this place will go into meltdown
If he’s sold in a few years time ,stating why did we agree to that blah blah blah

I think it's a good signing....if he's not successful we don't lose much and if he is, considering we got him for free, we can still make a profit. I approve of this type of signing.

Strange how the memory may play tricks. What about earlier signings ?

Great first interview - if he keeps that attitude when he plays, he'll be a good signing.
We get fleeced whenever we sell a good player, so I'm not bothered about any sell-on clause if he proves good value for us in the meantime.

Just out of interest do you have any information for earlier years?

At 65 minutes he'll be wondering why someone hasn't gone down like they'd been shot in order to secure a drinks break.
Sorry lads but when is it time for 'tiffin'
