seems strange that we put out an U23 (well even younger actually) side against Brizzle today? Wouldn't Dorchester have been a better fixture than today's mismatch?

Perhaps, we were originally hoping to put out two sides today, a reserve team and a youth team, but then realised that we didn't have enough players available.
