Seems they hate being called Gammon, which is a shame.
Who hates it? The Gammons? You mean the Gammons hate being called Gammons?

Well, the voters of Greater London emphatically expressed their dislike of Gammons, didn't they!

Bercow's timing couldn't be worse for Labour.

Leavers see him as one of the principle architects behind the 2 years of Brexit thwarting. He's now gone and found good company with the other Thwarters, i.e. Starmer, Benn, Cooper et al.

This will matter little in Remain heavy areas (like London and Amersham etc), but up North he's little more than poison.

A lot of Remainers think (hope) that Brexit as an argument is over and we've all moved on. Hartlepool, Amersham and maybe Batley too shows that we very much haven't.

Massive boost for Starmer in that Owen Jones says he should resign if he loses Batley. You can’t buy the sort of political boost you get if you’re on the opposite side of the political argument as that wazzock. Is the tide turning. 🤣

Rumour has it the time-served typesetter, one of a dwindling band, on the 'Tedburn Feudal Times and Reactionary Herald' was having trouble squeezing in the requisite number of flags, bulldogs and spitfires onto the header due to the limitation of suitably sized metal letter sorts. To free up some room, and very much tongue-in-cheek, he proposed changing the paper title to 'The Tedburn Gammon Gazette', which resulted in editorial outrage and him being shown the door. Touchy bunch.

Anybody know of a retired typesetter looking for some part-time work in the Tedburn area, perhaps they could PM Lord Al. :)

Whilst we're talking about Batley, it's a prime example of just another snooker Labour has got itself into.

Starmer in an attempt to circle back on Labour's antisemitism, may well alienate much of its Muslim base (and that's 3 million voters we're talking). There's talk that Galloway is trying to stoke things up around Starmer's Jewish leanings (i.e. his wife) which is playing well to the gallery there.

Galloway is wrong to do that, but it just goes to show just one of the many dilemmas Labour has on its plate right now.

Sad that it's now knowing the heritage of a Politicians wife is being used as a way to gain votes. 😢

John Bercow joins the Labour Party....The cynic in me thinks that he hopes for.a nomination from Labour for a Peerage 🤣
He could get the same title as the one bestowed on Kenneth Connor by Sid James in "Carry on Henry".................."Prince of Berks".
