Is it “The Tory culture war’ or it just the stuff a lot of people care about?
Snobby progressives love to view certain parts of electorate as being naively susceptible to the basest instincts of socially conservative politics and then tend to get annoyed and angry with them when they vote in a certain way.
Brexit was a case in point as regards this mentality.
And Tavy, I know you're (rightly) keen for racism to be applied in all directions, so why would any inverse snobbery towards degree holding liberal 'elites' be OK, if the opposite isn't?

Struggling to see the racism analogy in this instance BB. Racism laws are quite rightly applied equally to people without reference to their race or social status.
As Art would say it depends on the power and influence different demographics enjoy. If your a metropolitan middle class liberal with a degree and a healthy income and your world view is the status quo among most politicians and the vast majority of our institutions then again I’m struggling to see how the charge of inverse snobbery stacks up with any credibility.
I personally deride middle class liberal remoaners not out of snobbery but because I disagree with them fundamentally on their politics, and sometimes the attitudes they display in discussions.

I personally deride patriotic self declared 'man of the people' climate change denying nationalists not out of snobbery but because I disagree with them fundamentally on their politics, and sometimes the attitudes they display in discussions.

The point is, neither side thinks they're being snobbish, but they both act with an air or superiority that they can only recognise in their opponents.

I respectfully disagree on the snobbery issue, it’s been a widely discussed issue about how the largely middle class remain voter as part of their post referendum ‘hissy fit’ viewed in disparaging terms (Gammon? 🤷‍♂️) those working class white folks who voted leave.
Those only person who has inverted that snobbery in the opposite direction in my experience has been you.

Yep, we'll have to respectfully disagree.

I see plenty of the below from both sides:

Snob
noun
  1. One who despises, ignores, or is patronizing to those he or she considers inferior.
  2. One who is convinced of his or her superiority in matters of taste or intellect.
  3. A convulsive sob.

Oh dear, Tavy.

Your over-sensititivity about the occasional references to thickly cut slabs of bacon would have a little more credence if they came someone who habitually refers to those he disagrees with as "ingnorant", "stupid", "declinist" etc and, the most recent iteration "flagshaggers".

Glasshouse and stones, dear boy.

As is the want of the black community with the ‘N’ word I’ve reclaimed the word flagshaggers and have taken now to using it against the assorted group of EU flag bedecked weirdos we saw on the streets of London yesterday G2K.
I rather like it as it highlights the hypocrisy of the remainer class who saw Brexit as the manifestation of the flag obsessed little Englander.
Some of the antics of the EU loving nerds on display yesterday were hilarious it has to be said.

Fair enough Tavers. Then, in the same vein, I've reclaimed the word gammon and have taken now to use it against the assorted group of purple-jowled braying Brextremist weirdos we see on the far right of the Tory party (and GBeebies).
I rather like it as it highlights the hypocrisy of the extreme leaver class who still see Brexit as the cure (as opposed to the cause) of many of our increasing woes.
Some of the antics of the Brexit loving nerds still on display are hilarious it has to be said.
Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander as they say.
