Harriet Harperson and her Labour contemporaries already went down that road in the seventies with their support for the Paedophile Information Exchange

Of course they'd like you all to forget that particular bit of history.
Lolz @ Mr J giving out guardian links like a paedo offers sweets to a child.

But isn't that roughly how things ended up in 97 ie little between the two parties? People just ended up voting Labour just because they weren't the Tories.
I guess so. Does this merely prove that labour and conservative party are both progressive parties?

Morality is about the choices that you make. My use of the term 'condemned to be free' is that this is a truth that cannot be avoided.
If you deny that the choices that you make are your responsibility then you are denying yourself as a moral agent - in itself immoral.
So my use of the word 'freedom' is to emphasise the nature of choice and responsibility.

The choices that you face are in the context of the reality of your life. But by choosing you define your life.
So by denying the reality of self-definition you are denying people their morality and humanity.

Whether a particular self-definition is good or bad is another question but that is the process.
There’s many a mass murderer that’s claimed their own morality.

A new SNP leader will be announced I think around 2pm today, Not sure who's it going to be.

As an existentialist you presumably feel the responsibility to construct your own reality. This appears to be the intellectual basis of identity politics
No. I make choices within the reality that I face. I take responsibility for those choices. By making those choices I define myself as a human being and as a moral agent.

Right Wing identity politics (I believe that there is only one kind) tries to undermine this process by saying that you are an object and you have no choices.

I view socialism as a humanising force to the extent that it empowers people to make choices. (Edit)

Tavy is a proponent of right wing identity politics. He proudly identifies as a white working class Englishman. I think he has made this decision himself and has not had this identity imposed on him by anyone else

But what is his attitude to others?

There’s was no ‘decision’, my background is an immutable fact, a bit like ones sex at birth. 👍

You are conflating the twin issues of identity politics and othering. There is an overlap, I can see, but neither are conducive to a functioning healthy, diverse society.

"I identify as" = how I feel about myself is important and you must pay great attention to it. This is also known as self indulgence and is a sign of western decadence imho

"They're not like us" (e.g foreigners, the metropolitan liberal elite, people who don't behave just like we do) = they are to be feared and excluded if at all possible
