Syemour finds his level!
Or his scoring boots and his confidence. Well done Seymour.

Excellent result.

No doubt the Argyle will moan continuously about how we cheated somehow. :)
Gordon Sparks certainly will. He's far too partisan to ever comment as a neutral.

According to the report on the website we now play at home to Swansea next Tuesday night.

Wolves and West Ham are also in our group and played today, with Wolves winning 1-0

Really impressed by our back three today. Dyer and Diabate looked class and limited the GAWS to very few clear-cut chances, while Pond looked almost as solid as his more experienced partners. Elsewhere Daniel didn't offer much going forward but kept his dangerous looking right winger very quiet. Kite was also quite quiet but played one beautiful through ball to set up the second goal. Rowe looked better in central midfield than he did at left-book which was a surprise. Cox looked rusty but had a few nice touches; I think if he'd played a few more games he would have buried his chance. And I thought it was a really good, typical strikers performance from Seymour. He was involved a lot, linked up nicely with other players, missed a few half-chances but most importantly scored twice. When other players stand out in these games everyone says that they've made their case to be promoted to the first team and yet apparently that's not the case for Seymour who has instead just found his level.

Perhaps that's why it had to be played today

A key qualification! (y)

Most importantly, the chance of mixing it with the like Wolves, West Ham and ("even") Swansea keeps our little "market stall" in the eyes of the "big boys". Almost like Del Boy and Rodders being offered a counter in Harrods.

I know it hurts "losing" our young starlets, but not only for the present ££kerchings££ but also encouraging any future young signings (and their parents) that ECFC is a set up that will help develop them to their absolute best.

IMHO during the Trust days the investment into the youth set up is, probably, the best money ever spent by the club.

Yes, seems quite likely.

For those thinking about getting to the away games, Wolves appear to play their matches at Aggborough (Kidderminster), and West Ham play them at Rush Green Stadium in Romford (where West Ham Women play their matches). I think Swansea are playing at their training ground.

We are also apparently at home to Wolves on the 15th of September. It seems a good idea to play quite a few of these games early in the season while we don't have many midweek league games - could be useful game time if any of our youngsters are needed in the first team later in the season.

It seems like we are the only side who play the games in the evenings.
