Their attendances were boosted by a fair number of Jocks coming south over the border in order to see the big English Clubs playing there.
Yep...Especially in those wonderful days of just turning up at any 1st Division ground & paying on the gate to get in,something that disappeared by the early 1990s.

After watching the highlights of the surreal FA Cup final last night,this popped up,that amazing finale to the 1979 final.

This result was a shock at the time,double reigning European Cup Champions going down 0-2 at The City Ground in the European Cup 1st Round First Leg.

A interesting article about the footballing brothers Cyril & Peter Knowles.
Cyril was very well known for his career at Spurs & also well known in Devon for his time as Torquay manager.
