29th April 1972.

Not many games in Division One, due to a European Nations Cup(Euro’s) Q/F first leg game at Wembley against West Germany the next day. Quite unusual for the Football League under Alan Hardakers helm to be helpful to the FA & England team in those days.

The game ended in a 1-3 defeat, the first time a German National team had won on English soil.
The 2nd leg two weeks later in the Olympic Stadium West Berlin ended 0-0

I went to a handful of games that season (4) as a 10 year old, so was glad I picked that one to rock up to the Juvenile entrance on St James Rd..15p entry iirc.
I recall the other three, especially the 3-2 win against Bury a few weeks before. 0-2 down at HT.

I see Aston Villa, Brighton and Bournemouth near the top of Division 3. I went to Dean Court on the 1st April 1972 to see Bournemouth v Brighton, a capacity crowd, Ted MacDougall scored but it ended 1-1. I was supporting Brighton. I shook hands with Ken Bailey (England Mascot) who would wander around the pitch chatting with the crowd.

Met him in a Bournemouth nightclub in the early 70s. A real character.

6th February 1993.

Nicky Law Snr facing the Grecians at Millmoor.
I wonder what the players thought of the numbered ratings ? Probably had a good laugh.

Loving the boy Stanno
That game at Rotherham was the game where Ronnie Jepson threw Bally’s flat cap into the away end after the game and I caught it 👍

Today would have been Exeter City legend Tony Kellow’s 70th Birthday.

The first is Penzance FC.

The two photos without captions are Clifton Inn FC- 1984, Wendron FC 1998.
