In the last match of the season 1963-64, the team arrived back at Exeter St Davids from Workington around 1pm on Sunday lunch time, having travelled all night. They weren't using sleeper carriages either !^^^^
Quite a few teams in the north that the Grecians would have been visiting for the first time.Barrow,Carlisle,Gateshead,Hartlepool,Darlington Workington.
I would imagine the team would have travelled by train in those days.Certainly would not be able to do that these days because of the cost & the difficulty getting back to Devon after the game with the rail network as it is now.
