Mike Davis, 80. Coached the England rugby team to the Grand Slam in 1980. Played for Devon when he was at St Luke's, and later capped 16 times by England. RIP.

A bad year for that era of Aussie cricket with Warney going back in March.

Born in Birmingham (I believe) played for Gloucestershire as English but didn't want to play for England, controversially, and left when called up for Australia A.

The Exe Valley Brewery in Silverton has announced that after nearly forty years, it is to cease brewing beer and will be winding up it's operation in the next month. There will however be some special deals on it's remaining stock ! :( 🍺

I agree. Very sad news that. Have any reasons been given ?

Fortunately other local craft beers are available and we don't need to resort to the generally average fare produced by the big brewing companies.

The reason given - "Despite the enormous effort from everyone on the team, the reality of the current economic situation for our customers and the hospitality industry has made it impossible for us to operate profitably".
The full statement and history of the brewery is to be found on page 22 of last Thursday's Echo.

That must be the last hardware shop in Exeter.
