The great Peter Jones Radio commentary on the 2nd goal.

“Maradona turns like a eel,he comes away from trouble the squat little man.Comes inside Butcher leaves him for dead, outside Fenwick leaves him for dead and puts the ball away and that is why Diego Maradona is the greatest footballer in the world”

There was not a finer radio commentator than Peter Jones...He was only 60 when he passed away in 1990 at the boat race.

I concur. And then there was the deflected free kick at Italia 90.
Wouldn't have got a match programme under his feet.
And his pathetic attempts at any penalty save, ever. Useless argyle ******.
Sir Bob should have put Dave Beasant on.

That is true, Jones was the greatest, but the Maradona audio clip was actually Bryon Butler, another fine commentator (and Express & Echo man!).

Bleddy hell. I could have run past Butcher and Fenwick in 1986

It’s been mentioned that Fenwick should/would have taken one for the team, but was on a yellow card.

It was mentioned by Fenwick himself. He said if he wasn't already booked, he would have taken Maradona out.

Thanks, intrigued by the theory that you have to be able to spell a players name before being allowed to have an opinion on him, how does that work?
Simply that some of these people who say Maradona was wonderful have clearly studied him so studiously that they don't even know how to spell his name properly. If you wish to show someone respect perhaps you should make the effort to at least get their name right.
