Had not realised he was that old. Despite being a cofounder of the Swingometer he very often got the swing wrong as he read out results.

The biggest Swingometer faux pas, was the prediction of a 150 seat Labour majority on a exit poll in Oct 1974, this was hastily revised to 30 seats when the first results rolled in, then downgraded to 10 😁
Harold Wilson ended up with a 3 seat majority in the end.

Yep. I recall that forecasting debacle. 1987 also a disaster for pollsters with the Tory 102 majority massively understated. That error was repeated in the exit poll too. I remember the constant revisions upwards of the Tory majority through the night.
