I've always thought Stirling Moss was a good name for a racing driver. You can imagine the police asking a speeding motorist, "Who do you think you are - Stirling Moss?"

A great sportsman, too, by all accounts.
occasionally ad libbed in the Rolling Stones too.

Dennis Waterman has passed away age 74. I was too young at the time for The Sweeney but did catch a lot of Minder. Will be humming this for a while.

Dennis Waterman starred in( & largely funded) the excellent film TV Film,The World Cup : A Captains Role(1982)
It was about the little known story of a West Auckland FC who won the first football World Cup.. The Thomas Lipton Trophy in 1909 & 1911.

Juventus were one of the teams beaten.

It’s one of those lost TV gems that should be aired again. Tyne Tees were the production company.

An absolute cracker. Loved the scene where they went to spy on the opposition then reported back with complete incredulity how they bent the ball at free kicks. Superb.

Now Dennis Waterman, the youthful junior partner in The Sweeney has passed on, those of us of a certain vintage are feeling that much older today. RIP 😞
