Wasn't he the Man Utd goalkeeper who got carried off in the 1957 FA Cup Final?
'RAY' Wood wasnt carried off; He had to come out of goal, and continued playing on the wing after being shoulder charged in the cheekbone by Aston Villa striker Peter McParland. Jackie Blanchflower went into goal. A charge in the face such as the one involving Wood would have been a definite violent conduct red card today.

I didn't realise he was able to continue. It was an assault, and even when Wood tried evasive action, McParland changed direction to make sure he got him.
