Once the queen passes, gawd rest her soul, time to ditch the dirge, Britain's GSTQ. Not sure about Billy Connolly's suggestion, put some words to the Archers theme.

If Afghanistan has a brand new anthem, why not England, or the UK. With the UK songwriting talent available, can't be beyond the wit for somebody to come up with something to trouble the hairs on the back of the neck, for a change.

Failing that, if traditionalists win the day, then Land of Hope and Glory is preferable as an England anthem, as used at the Commonwealth games already.

Jerusalem would be the favourite to be sung at by the national team. I really dislike it, it displays our arrogance.
I think you confusing arrogance with aspiration.
