It seems like its only me, but I find Jon really irritating. A bit like when you're with friends who have a really precocious kid who keeps butting in on the grown ups conversation, and rather than suggesting they go somewhere and play, the doting parents just let the spoilt brat carry on and dominate things, spoiling any chance of an adult chat.
Think I'm going to just stop to pod altogether!

I think the dynamic of Jon and David works really well. Jon being serious and safe regarding ECFC makes David's more unrealistic opinions more funny.

I think the 'tension' between Jon and David is fun.
Jon is a knowing fall guy and just the foil David needs.
They're suss to how their characters land and play off it well.

On the wider point in your example.

Adult chat is rarely sacrosanct nor, indeed, rare.
Kids aren't kids for long.
IMHO both the kid and the adults should go somewhere and play.
Could be fun.

P.S. If you stop to pod you'll never find any peas.

It's a bit more politely than I'd word it but this.

Really enjoyed the early shows between the two comedians and the guests but not listened to it in ages now. Big Bank pod is normally my city podcast of choice.
