KMT is not getting sacked, why would he? Rotherham have been relegated 3 times in 6 years from the Championship. They are not expected to stay up. He will still be their manager in L1. It’s win/win for him, hero is he keeps them up. Pointless thread, all this speculation is nonsense.

I am not so sure. I can see them sacking him if the conditions were right and a more suitable replacement was available. Football is brutal and KMT will know that better than anyone.

I disagree with the sacked in the morning brigade. Neither do I buy into this strange theory that a successful manager in L1 or L2 can't take the same skill set on to a championship side. It's not as if he is on the pitch playing, a manager's skills set is different. I think Stewart will stick by Matt. What he saw in him when he offered him the job hasn't melted away. Those qualities are still there.
Just levels, I don't think it's a strange theory. Everyone has a limit to ability, that said Chris Wilder developed into an increasingly better manager from his days at Halifax all the way to the Prem so never say never - MT is young and learning still.

It's more his current style of play does seem to match the lower divisions, he was never great at turning a game on it's head and was very much "stick to the plan", which after Tisdale's nonsense I loved. Because L2 is best done in a relatively straight forward way. Been noticeable the step up in tactics, movement and talent on and off the pitch in L1, of which MT only actually managed 11 games.

So it was a big jump and no shame at all in not succeeding, I suspect he will get another crack at the Championship... perhaps one day with us 🙏

That’s the thing though, they are trying to stay there - so it's not a given they will just repeat the same mistakes when they have a good chance of staying up still.

Hoping that the Rotherham job stays with MT, he's new and needs time to settle in with a fresh group of players. We all knows that he's better than his results are showing. However, football fans are notoriously fickle, I don't doubt with a similar set of results at Exeter these boards would be awash with Caldwell out demands.
