Au contraire.

There is a thriving cricket club in Rotherham.

My Yaaarkshire contacts will keep an eye out to see if KMT rocks up to look at the pitch and facilities.

Where there’s muck there’s brass.
An old friend used to quote that all the time. His place was always a pigsty and definitely mucky but I never saw him open his wallet so I'm not so sure of the brass bit. Maybe it's just an excuse to be lazy and tight.

Rotherham is indeed not a picturesque example of England's heritage.

However, the New York Stadium is excellent and there are some pleasant villages like Wentworth a short drive from the town.

All the steel industries in rotherham are on their chin strap so theres very little muck unfortunately. Majority of the coal mines have closed and now rotherham is the capital of call centres. The town centre, which was never the most attractive, is full of charity shops and closed shops. Even 2 out of the 3 bingo halls in the area have closed and the 3rd is losing money hand over first, mainly because of the shit management of gala bingo.
