The ability to use both feet has always been a basic skill I'd have thought.
Especially for a Millwall skinhead in 1969.

Fair enough.
But just out of interest do you think the same applies to all sports, or just football?

Rafael Nadal is right handed. His uncle and coach made him play left handed. Many instances of cricketers who bat and bowl with different hands.

As far as I know Rafael Nadal always plays left handed and you cite cricketers who use one hand to bat and a different hand to bowl.
Do you have any examples of sportspersons who can switch seamlessly from one hand/foot to the other equally effectively at the equivalent of football league 2 level?

Well that was my point about Rafa. You can learn to use both feet if you are dedicated enough.
I notice that Josh Key has developed a long throw. This too can be learned.

I read somewhere that left handers have a fractional reaction time advantage in cricket, tennis etc, something to do with right and left hand lobes of the brain, which accounts for a higher percentage of lefties than in the overall population. Doesn't apply in football.

Although I admit I get frustrated to by players who can’t use both feet, I do wonder if we’re being completely fair.
Why didn’t people ask Brian Lara (in his day) to play right handed, or Andy Murray to play left handed?
Any reason why footballers should be different?
Because there simply isn't a requirement for them to do so unlike footballers where the need requires them to be able to play the ball with their weaker foot. Whenever a tennis player needs to play to his weaker side he can use both hands together. Have you ever seen a footballer use both feet at the same time to play a pass or a shot?

One person who has the ability to use both hands and is in a sport that it can be an advantage is Ronnie O'Sullivan. He is a genius at snooker though. Judd Trump can also play left handed and he is one of the world's best.

When it comes to L2 footballers who can use both feet to a good level, we had one last season in Joel Randall. It certainly is an advantage that you are prepared to use your weaker foot, especially in wide areas where you are a danger going both ways. Joel certainly used this to his advantage last season.

Yes I have, and when they do that for a penalty it’ll be disallowed.
Anyway, I’m going to bed.

On the Phillips issue I actually think he played well first half considering he was on his own up top with our midfield hanging deep and the only balls to run for being long punts. He worked hard covering a lot of ground and if he'd scored that goal after beating 2 defenders it would have been a belter! Reminds me of Jamie Mackie.
I'd have him ahead of Sam Nombe who hasn't shown any thing like his early season form, since his injury.
