The good people of exeweb told me that sellotape and sticky back plastic were not the same thing.

Watch the drama unfold here.
Having consulted mumsnet where there was a similar debate to that on these boards, I deduce that SBP was used on Blue Peter to cover all that sticky stuff referred to in the Exeweb dialogue, Fablon and Sellotape. A generic term.

In addition I definitely recall Val with some Sellotape and calling it SBP as some thingummy was being constructed.

Never mind the Sellotape itself, their bleeding factory at Bridgwater was ultra annoying with it's awful pong that permeated across the M5 and the Somerset Levels. Presumably from all the bones that were boiled down to make the glue !

Yep..Remember that.Nodding off on the coach, you always knew that it was about a hour to Exeter when that aroma filled the nostrils.

British Cellophanes factory at Bridgwater long gone.Shut in the early 2000s despite being profitable.
Production was moved to a loss making plant in Kansas after a few sweeteners were offered.

Indeed. Still remember those good old days (back in the 70s) with those ancient "Bow Belle" coaches returning from yet another dismal Grecian away defeat when that foul aroma reassured you that, even if the old banger finally broke down, you were at least just about within "walking distance" of home.

Yes, most definitely worthy of a trip to the Feckin’ Dire thread, had it existed.

To return to a previous theme. Hotel breakfasts where the pad of butter has come from the fridge and therefore doesn't spread on one's toast.
