Apparently/allegedly Liverpool are close to signing Sonny Cox.
I assume Alex Inglethorpe is still in charge of their academy so hopefully that means we will get a decent deal from Liverpool.

Possibly there might be the odd "buried skeleton" around from his time here that might be useful as a "bargaining chip" if needs be ? 😎

No news, although I think the general feeling/rumour is that Lee will be signing for ecfc and Cox will be going somewhere more glamorous.

Yep, looks like Sonny is on the way out. Hopefully we can get good compensation and it wil go in the transfer kitty, although it might be destined for the academy, which is fine, too. Maybe we'll hear something when the school holidays start.

Don't know if club has spoken to MP reviewing football leagues yet but would be good to quote whatever 'deal' Liverpool (one of the "Big 6") are giving us. UTC

IIRC these moves are often announced on 1 July, which was what happened with Ampadu. Chrisene was mid August but that was in last summer's odd pandemic affected window.

If the club really believe Sonny Cox is as good as we're led to believe then why not use some of this money for (invisible) 'game changers' be chucked his way?

1. Because the club's philosophy is not to stand in the way of a big opportunity for an academy kid : in fact we can't stand in the way anyway
2. Because we couldn't offer a salary big enough to tempt him to stay

That’s not quite right, the club can totally stand in the way! If the club doesn’t accept the offers the only way the lads can leave is to go to tribunal and its only the big 4 or 5 that is willing to do that! Be good to see them both stay as think MT would give them their chance this year👍
