Equally the Premiershi** want it both ways, they want to hoover up all the talent in the country on the cheap, whilst ruining the structure of the EFL by introducing B teams in order to play their glut of talent. I agree with you it is the system that is broke and there is too much vested interest preventing it being reformed.
Indeed, blame the system, not the boys.

It seems as if most agree that the problem is the system. If that's the case, any suggestions on how we change it? Often, we hear the refrain, "it needs changing", but too often, nothing happens and the problem remains. I'm not clever enough to think of a solution, but perhaps there's someone on Exeweb who is.

The PL has all the power and is unlikely to agree any changes to give smaller clubs more dosh.

Unfortunately this is a classic example of the golden rule:

Absolutely correct. The problem lies with the compensation system, which seems to be unfairly biased towards the 'purchasing party'. But it is not just unfairness: higher levels of compensation would reduce the 'hoovering up' of talent and clubs like ECFC could develop more youngsters and let them progress to the first team. This is probably better for their development than playing with those of the same age in meaningless competitions. And it protects the 92 club system as well.

Yet again the simplistic thinking of the 21st century rears its head. It's not either blame the system or the boys. Not everything is so black and white, despite the best attempts of the simple-minded to force things into neat little boxes...

The system needs reform. At the same time, loyalty is a dying but admirable trait. Players like Jay Stansfield owed the club more than they gave in return.

This is absolute rubbish. As if Stansfield owed us anything more than Cox, Lee etc. What makes you say this, before I jump to conclusions?

Ok. So there's no answer. End of.

Feel free to jump to conclusions. It's not difficult to identify what the club have done for Stansfield and his family that might have earned some loyalty from another person or in another era...

Okay, so let me get this straight. Because his dad sadly passed while he was here, he shouldn’t take the career path he wants to. Got ya.

Think you're on the wrong track with this one. When you help someone - e.g when City helped the Stansfields - you shouldn't expect something in return. Also, if he had stayed at City he would always have been Adam Stansfield's son, not Jay Stansfield.
And finally, how long would you have expected Jay to be obliged to stay at City? A year, there years, a lifetime?
It is always frustrating to lose a youngster to a big club before we have seen him play for us and probably lost for peanuts, but imo you can't blame the lad for taking an excellent opportunity. Unfortunately it's just the way it is.
