This is correct. The problem is the EPPP process. Few lower league clubs run Academies as well as us and we are penalised as a consequence. I've often wondered whether the Club should engage a high quality sports lawyer, to see if it can unilaterally withdraw from the EPPP process and thereby get in to a better negotiating position when Academy players are attracted by higher league clubs.
I've wondered this too. Why does it have to be a one-size-fits-all deal? Clubs that want to take the money from the PL and enter into an EPPP deal should be free to do so and this that don't should be free to negotiate their own deals.

It'll never happen.

The problem is that the EPPP deal is not a stand alone process. It is all woven into the whole "solidarity payment" by which the Premiershi** makes payments to the EFL. If the EFL Clubs vote against the package they will lose funding full stop.

Feel free to jump to conclusions. It's not difficult to identify what the club have done for Stansfield and his family that might have earned some loyalty from another person or in another era...
What exactly has the club done? Coached a kid up to 16 years old, which they get paid for by the EFL, and then sold him for a profit🤷‍♀️ whilst the 'so called' money grabbing parents drive them to training 3 times a week, (sometimes an hour each way), hang around for a few hours and then travel all around the country at the weekends to support them!! But they should be 'thankful and loyal'? How much do League 2 players get sold for? So why should a 16 year old be sold for so much more?

So it's blackmail....or bribery.....depending on one's take on it.

This.
ECFC of course voted against it as we deemed the EPPP payment structure unfair. The problem was that the clubs who invest a lower proportion of their resources into the youth or indeed don’t bother with youth at all, all voted in favour.
The other side of the coin is that kids shouldn’t be disadvantaged because of their geography. They should have the same opportunity to sign for whoever they wish at the age of 16, regardless of whether they live in Mortenhampstead or Manchester.

That’s it then , off he goes now he’s getting noticed by the big boys. From a completely mercenary point of view what do we expect to get? Strange that we keep finding these decent young forwards , Stansfield and this one at the moment and yet the group we have available to try to see us into L1 are either injured or can’t hit a barn door from three yards.Nature of the beast I guess , we can never hold on very long to forwards like that.
