A rare appearance on MOTD, a Div 3 game at Charlton during the Cup run season, 1980/81. John Motson refers to the Newcastle replay when he had also been the commentator.

Notable for those green shirts :( ... also a bit of history on 10 minutes, the Thames Barrier being built!

No City fans in evidence, probably broke after all the Cup travel.

Just watched this on the TV. Great memories of those players.
Interesting to see the adverts around the ground and the half-time scoreboard.

And pass backs to the keeper, and fences keeping the fans caged, and no captains armband, no sponsors on shirts, etc

Is the correct conclusion.

Whoever was responsible for that green kit should have been executed.

Ahead of the trip to Carlisle, here's a reminder of the last time City went up there in a similar situation ... chasing promotion from Div 4.

So, no need to worry if we lose on Saturday, it's happened before and it turned out OK in the end ;) . Let's hope the pitch and weather have improved.

There's a detailed report here from the local paper, puts it all into context.

A classic case of thinking promotion was within touching distance in early February .

Did that not have some connection to Charlton signing Danish international Allen Simonsen?
