A great stage win for a teary Alex Dowsett today. A first stage win for Israel Start-Up Nation.
Hopefully it’ll be enough to see him get a contract offer from someone for next year as he sounded very concerned and uncertain about his future in the sport...not much has happened at the top of the GC yet today’s stage is expected to see some activity there.

Grim filthy weather today in a stage that came down to a 300 metres uphill sprint between just two riders won by Guerreiro of EF Pro Cycling....Bradley Wiggins and Brian Smith are now both tipping Wilco Kelderman of Sunweb as the new race favourite.

In other news Mark Cavendish may have ridden in his last race today.

Cav's always worn his heart on his sleeve which hasn't appealed to everyone over the years. He has had a tough time with Epstein-Barr virus and it is a shame he hasn't been able to compete at the sharp end as he wants to. I feel he gets a bit overlooked these days as to how great a cyclist he was. 30 stage wins at the TDF by a Brit. Incredible career if that is it.

Let's hope he's just feeling down! I've only seen him in recent years, when he hasn't had much luck. If he can't regain full fitness there isn't much of a future for him.

At his peak the Manx Missile was fully deserving of the nickname. An absolutely electric sprinter and as his record at the TDF shows, one of the greatest sprinters ever. For a few years he was nigh on untouchable particularly on the Champs Elysées where he won the stage four years in a row 2009-2013, a record that is still going. Won the points classification at all three grand tours and of course Road Race World Champion in 2011.

Never short of a word or two either 🙂

OMG! All of the Michelin Scott team have withdrawn from the race after positive Covid tests plus one of the race favourites Steven Kruijswijk of Jumbo Visma today.

After having Simon Yates test positive it was always a concern for Mitchelton-Scott.

Whole of Jumbo-Visma withdraw, not just Kruijswijk. Doubts over whether they will compete at the Vuelta.
