Oh I get you - well, we need another FWD option to rotate in and out IMO. They wouldn't all start at the same time - plus with Brown going and Nombe likely too then we need to build for the coming 2 seasons or so
Correct. That means White or Brown, not White and Brown. I think this would be a missed opportunity
I think if GC wanted to regularly have the ability to switch to a 4, then potentially it would make sense to have a proper LB but I don't think that's where he's going to take this team shape wise.So we still could do with a proper left back then? Haven't had one since Lewis Page which is odd given our record of having very good ones (Moxey, Friend, Golborne etc)
And I get you. I assumed the new forward was going to play with Sam as neither would be content to sit on the bench half the time. Three out of four of Brown, White, Nombe and New Man could work and we continue with wingbacksOh I get you - well, we need another FWD option to rotate in and out IMO. Absolutely and he would regularly make second half substitutions where he changed and brought on a completely new pair of strikers.Said it before, when we were successful under Tisdale we always had multiple striking options.
We need another option this season IMO.
See post 1543I think at our level (and below) although playing with three central defenders and wingbacks is sometimes a conscious tactical choice it’s also on occasions because the coach perhaps lacks confidence in the defender’s defensive capabilities?
There seem to be a players coming through now who consider themselves a wingback rather than a fullback and others who consider themselves almost exclusively a centre back in a three.
I’m not sure whether this means some players and coaches have over created positional specialisms or perhaps it’s just a consequence of larger squads and more available substitutes so greater positional specialism is possible/desirable.
Either way I still like having a couple of players in our squad who just enjoy nutting the ball away and whacking it into the stand when required.
