Listened to a recent “The Man in the Lion Mask“ podcast interviewing Simmo. Obviously an intelligent guy personally I liked him and felt he was really coming into form and likely to play an important part in what would have been our automatic promotion before his injury the season we eventually ended up in the playoffs losing to Blackpool.
He had known Tis for many years before moving to City and very similar to ourselves as supporters had found some of his tactics a little unpredictable and in particular said in his own words regarding the Playoff Final with Coventry “to be totally honest wouldn’t say we believed in Tis’s tactics that day”.
Also listened to two other Podcasts from “Max Talks“ one interviewing Paul Buckle the other David Wheeler both really interesting when discussing their times at City. Bucks in particular when talking about his early days under Noel Blake’s management and the positive influence and impact that Steve Perryman had when called in to support Blakey when he was struggling and we had seemed destined for the Conference or whatever it was called in those days.
Still feel Woody had something to offer us, even if just a squad player. To me it felt like he got better with age. Good luck to him at tiverton, they've got a very good player for that level.
