Maybe another scorcher summer may help suppress and slow down this virus?

You're feeling cheerful this morning.
If China with its population of 1.2bn can get it under control (and I assume they're not telling porkies this time) then surely we can.
Yes, there might be a few waves coming in later but little by little it will be similar to flu with casualties but with vaccine and more or less under control. And the folks will build up some immunity
It's easy to get in under control. If you a lockdown for long enough the spread will. The problem is when you let people back to their normal life. It will be interesting what happens in China and Italy over the next few weeks and how quickly we catch up with Italy.

Yes, that's true. Many experts talk about waves and then ripples rolling in, in which case we're in the sh*t for quite a while. However, we will gradually develop some kind of immunity to this.
Regarding the collateral damage to the world economy, things might get a bit dodgy (especially where I am). Digging a bunker right now

Unsurprisingly everything is still in limbo. I think it is inevitable that one way or the other whatever the PL, the PL players and to a lesser extent players in the EFL decide is going to dictate how matters proceed.

Fair to say if the former groups decide, given the current daily loss of life is still in the 600s, in the best interests of the players and their families, it is unsafe to restart the season and that a number of Clubs are arguing against any Clubs being relegated which would then cascade down the leagues there would be no point in continuing or thinking about playing any further games. If this is the outcome then despite all the posturing by all involved by definition the season will become null and void.

We must not forget also another significant group namely the player’s wives and girlfriends who not unreasonably must be concerned for the well being of their partners and their families and can still have a major influence on how things work out. Likewise the players themselves particularly the well paid if deciding to refuse to play cannot be forced to play and as in most cases being under contract, will be under no financial pressure to do as whatever happens they will still be paid.

The problem is that in the absence of any legal provisions being in place to provide a framework of dealing with a situation of this nature, not surprisingly so as no one was ever likely to have envisaged something of this nature happening, everything is up for grabs. In my opinion whilst all the Parties involved have their own vested interests, legally none of them are in the driving seat. Somehow unless future events create a “fait acommpli” they have to reach a compromise which is going to be a lot easier said than done.
