Wasn’t a great race in Monte Carlo yesterday...the biggest drama was in the pits before the formation lap with Ferrari attempting in vain to to fix the gremlins in Leclerc’s gearbox...not sure there was a single overtaking manoeuvre on the track at the front end of the race, there seemed to be a three to five seconds gap between the top six throughout, as Lewis said the track could do with a couple of tweaks to try to create an overtaking place somewhere....whether something could be done or not heading down to rascasse I don’t know.
Not sure if you can really do anything to improve it. Saturday is always the exciting day of a Monaco GP with qualifying. If it wasn't the history, prestige and glamour it wouldn't be a GP these days. Same can be said of Abu Dhabi or Sochi without the money they pay.

Pity Leclerc binned it badly enough to waste the pole position although whether he would have kept is another matter with Verstappen and Sainz going quicker until the red flag came out. He didn't just clip the corner either, he cut it by a lot.

When Mercedes have a bad weekend they really do have one. Good to see Lando on the podium again.

Onto Baku which can be entertaining on a track of two half's.

Colossal fcuk up from Hamilton on the restart yesterday that could well cost him the title at the end of the year.

George misses out on the top ten shootout by 8 thousandths of a second! The boy can qualify that's for sure. Wonder if he can follow up the quiet twelfth he got at Paul Ricard which went under the radar.

Don’t know what’s wrong with Danny Ric this year he’s getting totally blown away by Lando in the other McLaren and seems to be going backwards with every race.

Yes, he just can't seem to get any consistency in the McLaren for some reason. To be fair though, Lando stepping up a level or two is making it look worse for him. In an odd way, Danny Ric coming in to McLaren seems to have been the making of Lando. He has really matured and risen to the challenge of most people thinking Danny Ric was going to dominate him on the track.

Yes, very unexpected seeing as he made such light work of his other teammates….with his experience he should get it right soon.

Hope so. McLaren v Ferrari this year could be as exciting as Merc v Red Bull.

Very comfortable win for Verstappen, time gaps too big between the top six for much excitement until Perez very nearly chased down Bottas in the last 15 laps or so….pretty good track the Red Bull ring.

Hard to see Mercedes getting back to Red Bull if they have turned full attention to 2022 and the new regs as Lewis has said. The gap does not look to be track specific.

Not much to shout about in the race apart from Leclerc coming back through the pack. Elsewhere it was solid drives. Had to feel for George again though. In eighth and challenging Alonso for seventh and then mechanical problems put him out.

Don't mind the Red Bull Ring although all the overtaking places are in the first four turns. Pity no F2 or F3 races this weekend as they can be pretty crazy around there.

George Russell in to Q3 on mediums ahead of Riccardo, Alonso, Vettel and both Ferrari's 😃

Vettel will surely get a slam dunk penalty for impeding Alonso though.
