Entertaining race although comfortable win for Max in the end. Rare mistake by Lewis being too eager to lap Russell and going offline onto the damp track. Thanks to the red flag, Lewis limited the damage with a good recovery drive and an extra point for fastest lap.

Great drive by Lando who backed up his qualifying pace with a deserved podium. He had great pace after a dodgy start to get up to third by the red flag. Then kept his softs intact to comfortably hold off Leclerc and even caused Lewis some trouble in getting past.

Good solid results for Ferrari. Danny Ric might be a bit concerned at Lando's pace and needs to get dialled in.

Dreadful weekend for Bottas. With the pack more condensed, he was a long way off Lewis. I haven't had time too look to much at the incident with George but I'd put it down to a racing incident. I think George sensed Bottas was drifting across further than he actually did because of the track and Bottas wanting to keep the dry line. Then he dipped his tyre onto the grass when Bottas actually did leave just enough space. I think from Bottas' reaction on the radio though that he didn't know George was there. Which leads us to the main point, Bottas being overtaken by a Williams 😲. As I said, a dreadful weekend for Bottas.

Also to be noted Vettel nowhere near Stroll even though they seemed to have the same gearbox problem. Good points for Kimi though, the old dog, despite a few adventures.

Portugal this weekend. Doesn't seem a familiar name the race track.

It's where they raced last year at Portimao. It's similar to Barcelona in layout but more elevation changes and good - no fiddly, stupid chicane before the start finish straight!

Missed qualifying yesterday due the match, didn’t expect Bottas to be on pole, another strong showing from Norris in seventh and Russell an impressive eleventh in the Williams.

Not a banger of a race but the main moves were done early on. Lewis with a comfortable enough win in the end after overtaking Max and Bottas early in the race after being caught a bit cold at the restart. The undercut and getting the hard tyres up to temps got Max into second with Bottas looking threatening until a sensor issue in third. Max had the consolation of fastest lap point until Paul Di Resta told him his lap had been deleted in the post race interview. Max tried to take that in his stride

Early moves by Lando on Ocon (move of the race) and Perez, set him up for fifth. Checo had the pace to get ahead in the pit stops with his long stint but Lando showed his increasing maturity by making his mediums last and keeping Leclerc on the racier hards behind. Sainz on the same strategy as Lando and right behind him tailed off out of the points. Says something for Lando and McLaren.

Alpine have found some pace this weekend and Ocon and Alonso scored good points. Decent recovery by Danny Ric from quali nightmare but he seemed alone to struggle to get the hard tyres to work and was probably grateful for Sainz and Gasly dropping away to end up ninth.

On to Spain and can Red Bull regain the upper hand over Mercedes that they seem to have lost this weekend.

Yes...it looks as though Mercedes and Hamilton in particular have gained the upper hand again, Ocon and the Alpine also looked to have moved forward but Alonso only really started to find some time when on “young” tyres compared to most of the field...if only McLaren could find another second in the car for Lando.

It might just be track specific with Merc and RB. Max doesn't want Portimao on the calendar because of the low grip which surprises me as class shows in those conditions. Fans probably want it because of low grip. It makes a change because it is different. They do think RB still have the upper hand when the temps go back up though.

Probably no better place to find out than at the Circuit de Catalunya next weekend with Mercedes and Hamilton’s record there in recent years.

It not often that the best car doesn't win at Barcelona. Pastor Maldonado in the Williams being the glaring exception.

I’ll take a Williams race winner next weekend especially it it’s car number 63 :)
