3 out of the 4 top placings on the grid occupied by Brits. When, if ever, has this happened before ? 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

No doubt someone will be along to blame it on Brexit ! :p

You've got to love a damp qualifying session. Lando deserves a pole position after looking like being good for one at Spa. Full marks again to Williams and George Russell for getting their tactics absolutely spot on in Q2 and Q3.

Great to see Lando on pole he really deserved that after the year he’s having whether he can keep Hamilton behind him in the race remains to be seen, he’d a be a very popular winner if he could.

Absolutely gutted for Lando. It was such an absorbing race, especially for Sochi, and then for the rain to come so late in the race and shake things up just when you didn't need it for a change. McLaren got caught out by being first and having to make the decision to come in or not when in possession of a big prize. They made the wrong choice and it was painful to watch.

On the other hand, 100 GP wins is incredible. Lewis after a bad start kept his composure and didn't panic. He kept his mediums alive and when he was released made up the time to jump the early pitters, and challenge for the lead. It would have been tough for him to get past Lando but the rain intervened and Bono earned his money by insisting that Lewis pit against his wishes which won him the race.

The big winner today though was Max Verstappen. After driving through into a good position he was struggling on his hard tyres having driven them too hard and pitted early. Before the rain he was in 7th and being caught fast by Leclerc on fresher tyres. They pitted for the inters at the right time though and second place fell into his lap really.

It is strange that you often want a bit of rain to spice things up a but this shook the final positions up so much that several drivers didn't really get the end position they deserved. Not just Lando but Perez as well with 9th after driving a typically tyre whispering race which should have seen him on the podium. Leclerc finished 15th after staying out too long on dry tyres. And in the opposite direction, Bottas came fifth after a totally anonymous race where he was not going to get a point or ever looked like challenging.

That's F1 I guess.
