A low key end to the season which is often predictable at Abu Dhabi, an uninspiring track. The top three stayed as the top three. Toto Wolff confirmed that the engines were turned down for the weekend due to MGU-K reliability worries on their final engines. This gave Verstappen a comfortable win with a faultless drive.

McLaren were the big winners with Lando and Sainz driving sensibly to fifth and sixth which was enough to clinch third in the constructors with Racing Point only scoring a point for Stroll in tenth. Another Mercedes engine being nursed. Perez hit transmission problems in his last race of a very good season for him.

Ricciardo had the drive of the day. Staying out under the safety car where most pitted and having the pace to convert eleventh to seventh.

Both Ferrari's were lapped and out of the points battling Kimi in his Alfa. A race to sum up their season.

Dull race, dull circuit. Looked like they were driving round a car park, all that soulless concrete. I’ve liked this season but that race bored me to tears.

Pretty uneventful race to end the season, the highlight of the weekend was probably seeing Alonso have a run out in the Renault R25 again 😎 Looking ahead to next season there seems to be some intriguing engine and driver changes to hopefully spice things up a bit.

Great season for McLaren. Hopefully the start of a sustained revival. Both Sainnz and Norris have done really well.

Entertaining partnership as well. I don't think the addition of Danny Ric will lessen any entertainment or performance. Also have the Mercedes engine to plug in next year. Hopefully they can fit it in without too much hassle chassis wise.

Mazepin is a right loose cannon and not always in a good way. But if you have a Russian billionaire father, doors open. That's not to say he isn't a good driver, but Calum Ilott will be particularly sore and not just from remembering the time Mazepin punched him. That's F1 though!

Looking forward to Alonso coming back and seeing how Mick Schumacher settles in. Not the quickest qualifying but racing wise very entertaining and quick.

Sainz and Leclerc a good line up at Ferrari if they can do anything about the gasping donkey of an engine. Vettel at Aston Martin will be interesting to see if any of the old form can come back.

Overall this year despite the dominance from Lewis and Mercedes at the top of the championship it has been an entertaining season. New winners in Gasly and Perez. The midfield battle between McLaren, Racing Point and Renault has been back and forth. Different tracks and old tracks to enjoy with Mugello, Portimao, Imola and Turkey all providing decent races. Some dramatic races and incidents with Lewis winning at Silverstone on three wheels, Bahrain outer track being a surprise hit although Mercedes helped by imploding, Grosjean surviving. Probably more back to normal next year.

Not much of a coincidence that they also announce Toto Wolff will stay on for another three years as team principal.

Really pleased for Checo. He should never have been potentially not having a drive for 2021. It will be interesting to see if he can get closer to Max than Gasly or Albon were able to do. If he can then Red Bull can start putting Mercedes under more pressure with strategy. Checo has always been special on tyre wear which has enabled him to put some good alternative strategies into good use. If not then it's a case of we all knew Max was very special, he might be unbelievably special.
