Great performance and resulr against a good side. I knew we were going to win when they made their triple sub, thought it was bizarre taking Norwood and Cole off and their replacements did nothing.
Stanno just gets better and better. Thought Josh had a good game and loved Will winding up their fans in the second half.
Who was given the MoM? The PA cut out at the critical time (again).
I would love to see stats on how often triple substitutions are effective. It didn't work for Accrington either.

I think it has all been said really.

First 20 minutes looked as if we might be in for a tough night and Barnsley look a really good team.

Highlights confirm Jamal should have done better for their goal but the defence also fell asleep.

Stanno's goal even more stunning than in real time last night.

Excellent penalty from Sam Nombe too. Fine margins though.

Much as I love Sweenz and it was a great team performance all round MOTM definitely belonged to Stanno last night.

Away attendance 450. Thought I had read 500 tickets sold

I must say as soon as I saw 4 subs coming on at the same time, I was honestly bracing myself for a win. Its seems the act of a desperate team with no options left. Seen a few teams now make multi-sub changes and it sometimes looks like it upsets the team more than it lifts them. It must add some confusion to individual roles etc.

I've made an appointment with the bank for a loan to purchase a bandwagon later today.

On a serious note, last night was our best result under Caldwell by a mile. I'm always happy to change my opinion with changing evidence and since GC moved back to playing players in their best positions the side is showing the potential and ability it has, which tbh as I said previously was always the biggest source of my frustration. Whilst it's a Shame it took quite so long to get to this point last night was simply amazing in every regard.

Defensively we where brilliant bar the goal, whilst it was a quality free kick from Barnsley and a good finish both JB And the defence where slow and indecisive in that moment but tbh that's one fallacy in an otherwise perfect defensive performance. All 3 of our CB's seem to have true understanding now.

When we attacked we always carried a threat and Stanno whom was my mom was simply irresistible to watch and a constant thorn in the Barnsley side (is that 3 of his six goals against Barnsley). Scott had a good game also and played a very good foil for Stanno, but you can see he's still a little off his peak fitness, I am very encouraged on what has been the first time I've seen Scott start. If we can keep Scott fit he'll score 15-20 next season. STANNO took his goal exceptionally well and the assist for kite was sublime and kite finished a tricky effort with aplomb. Nombe came on and was typical Nombe and it'll be a real Shane when he goes in the summer.

Weirdly McDonald had probably his most tricky game, certainly first half was (I stress by his standards as he still played well) a little sloppy. I also felt Harper did well when he came on for him and kite, Collins played very well.

Key and Mitchell are class acts on the wing and by far out best two wing backs, they always look a class act. Again it's a shane it took so long to get key back into his natural position.

Caldwell deserves huge praise for last night. Tactically spot on and Scott the only change had a good game.

Going forward, I would say we are Taylor's in principle way but with a slightly more expensive play, defensively for me is the where real improvement in our side at. Attacking wise we back to doing what we did early in the season and the air is all the sweeter for it. Defensively and midfield wise we've significantly improved and it is beginning to show. Players in their strongest positions consistently and our best available side and hey presto results follow. We've probably cost ourselves an outside playoff shout by not doing this enough from Nov upto the Cambridge game.

All in all a 10/10 last night. A perfect night to be a Grecian. I also had a number of messages from Argyle supporting friends thanking us as last night has assisted them massively (I hope those wanting us to lose to stitch argyle up aren't calling for Caldwell's head 🤣 to much)

Reminded me of a boxing champ going for an early KO. City dug in, before the champ ran out of steam, ideas and belief. As has been said, impressive levels of fitness, the team obviously took heed of the manager’s instruction re recovery after the Sat game.

Great to see Archie following up in the box regularly, his confidence a bit low atm with the misses but it’ll come. All has been said already about Stanno, a superb performance, he’ll be looking fwd to the visit of the Greens to deliver more of the same and more, can’t wait.

Scotland and City rip up the form book, GC will prob have slept very happily and soundly last night ! He deserves it too.

One point not mentioned and though not specific to last night is how solid we have now become. The Manager stated explicitly (backed by Sweenz at the time) that our biggest problem thoughout the team was our inability to defend. If I recall at the time we were conceding 2-3 goals a game and clean sheets were almost non existent. Clearly Caldwell has spent many hours with the squad changing how we defend as a team and it shows the benefit of his work that our defensive stats are now that of a Top 7 team rather than the worst in the division. Yet another reason to be cheerful eh Gary
