I’ve just had one of those ‘on this day’ photographs that I’d previously taken come up on my mobile.
Seems it was 4 years ago today me and 373 other determined Grecians were in the magnificent crowd of 1,155 at St Andrews, Birmingham to watch us slump to a 4:1 defeat against Coventry in the Carabao Cup.
I recall I took the metro from West Bromwich into Birmingham City Centre and walked to the ground from there.
As is often customary in the early rounds of the Cup we made quite a few random selection decisions.
Gary Warren played and Nick Ajose and Robbie Cundy were unused substitutes.
Ben Chrisene came on in the 87th minute, so although I saw him play a competitive match in an Exeter City shirt I have absolutely no memory of it.
This was only 2019 but it seems like a lifetime ago!

Remember the day well...Picked my son up from Heathrow at around 1pm & then drove to Birmingham. Parked up, then found a fancy Gastro Pub about a mile from St Andrews. It must have been good because The Exiles trooped in at around 5.30pm

Big crowds too v. Plymouth, Sheffield Wednesday, Manchester United in cup ties.
Also v. Southend 12,000 in a League game, vouchers given out to buy tickets for the United game.
Spurs away too that season.
Finances must have improved !

My first season.
