Exeter had to wear yellow socks from Sheff Utd that day as our socks clashed.

Me too. Left Bude at some ridiculous hour as the NDG’s had to be in Sheffield by opening time! We were banging on the door of the Cheshire Cat, I think, at 11.50….
Great day and a crazy game.

Dunno mate, but he was suspended every few games because he kept getting sent off - if you look at the ‘complete record’ you’ll see regular three or four game gaps throughout his career, even in the reserves at Villa 🤣

I remember when your dad mentioned a suspension when he talked at the SR meeting. I’m pretty sure he said 4 Bookings(they were not dished out like they are in recent times of course ) would lead to a suspension of at least 2 weeks. Plus any suspension meant the club did not have to pay the player concerned wages for the period of the suspension.

* The adage ‘ Revenge is a dish best served cold’ springs to mind with one of your dads stories about playing 😁😁

Yeah, I imagine that was the story about the guy at Chester who went over the top on my dad at SJP and ruptured his ligaments, kept him out for a few weeks.

The return game at Chester, my dad broke this guy’s leg early in the game and as he was being stretchered off he looked at my dad and said “quits?”

Different times 🤣
