How long was ethans contract with Chelsea? If he continues to go on loan after this year, and reaches the end of his contract, is there not a risk another club can pick him up for free and we get nothing?

Five year contract IIRC when he signed a new deal as he turned 18. Two years in, three years to go, when he would still not be entitled to leave on a free, t’would be a Tribunal fixed fee if he left at 23.

Chelski won't risk that, they'll give him another contract or sell him if they don't think he's ready for their first team before then. They just gave Batshuyi a new deal before farming him out on loan again. In 4 years he's only played 48 times for Chelsea. This is his 4th loan. But they don't care, they'll play him or sell him eventually.

Agreed, Chelsea are in the business of making profit out of signing youngsters. De Bruyne is the clear example, they never expected him to be the player he became, but they made a £10 Million quid profit.

Be through the doors more than 5 minutes, then wait for a chance in what was one of the best defences in the Premier League last season.
