I just don't understand how this can be an option. L1 decide on no relegation so tough on L2. It cant be up to the individual leagues within the EFL to decide what to do in terms of promotion and relegation. To play or not, I get there can be a differential, but not to promote/relegate

The whole thing is crying out for some central leadership and parameters, laid down by the FA. Meanwhile the National League wait and see what crumbs are thrown so they can sort themselves out. It is beyond farcical. The FA took the early step to avoid all leagues from Step 3 down with little consultation yet they've done nothing to steer the PL and EFL into a sensible approach.
exactly. There was hypocrisy in suggesting there would be promotion as usual from league two but possibly no relegation. That could only be done if the National League clubs agreed.

Ultimately the responsibility lies at the feet of the EFL clubs and in particular their pure selfishness. The sticking point is that there is no provision in it's rules , and therefore the EFL needs to pass suitable amendments, if they don't then the law suits will fly and no doubt clubs will be crippled and fold because of the hiatus waiting for the legal status to be determined. The voting rules don't help either, as they are not fit for purpose and highly complicated . Just for starters why do Championship Clubs get three votes each !

This is yet another example of how the money at the top of the game is ruining it. The sheer greed and desperation of some Clubs and their owners to get their "mitts" on it is killing football as a sport.

The selfishness you mention has come because there has been no framework, no parameters. So clubs are scrabbling like ferrets to protect their interests.

If the FA had turned round mid April and said, right PL and EFL go away and discuss proposals for

1) Ending the season with no more games played
2) Ending the season with only play-off games played
3) Ending the season with all games played

and the principals are

1) Everything must be completed by 31st July and proposals need to include contingencies in the event of 2) or 3) that the season is restarted but still not finished
2) The number of promotion and relegation spots between divisions must be maintained as if the season had played to a finish, including 2 promotion places from the National League as well as the required number of clubs for European qualification in the PL.
3) The solution for each division does not need to be the same but any 'revised table / points' calculation must be applied in the same way across all divisions
4) The FA Cup will be cancelled and all unpaid prize money to date will go into a solidarity fund to cover exceptional costs incurred in restarting
5) Each club has 1 vote, a simple majority is all that is required

You have 3 weeks to come back with determined options, separately for the PL and the EFL but which must include 3 up and 3 down between the PL & Championship

who knows, we might just have got somewhere.

I think it’s a straight majority required in L1 for the season to end the same way as L2.

Except Tranmere & a few clubs just outside the play offs or near the autos, why would any team vote to start up the season again with all the additional costs involved ?

The Shrewsbury Chairman/CEO said pretty much the same on Tuesday evening on a podcast I was listening to.

I think it’s an impossible situation to please everyone but promotion and relegation must happen in the top 4 leagues.
