With that 12-point penalty, it's just as well there are ten games in the group stage instead of five.
Will it apply to this competition next year or be carried forward ?

Don't know. It would be more damaging next year, as there are fewer games than usual.

Looks like the South African government have started poking their oar into cricket as they have with rugby. This was on Sky Sport News earlier:

South Africa face a ban from International Cricket if the government take control of the national governing body.

Cricket South Africa currently under investigation over allegations of misconduct by senior officials.

South Africa's Sports Minister Mathi Mthethwa has told the ICC that the government wants to intervene

ICC rules forbid government interference and teams can be banned from playing as punishment.

Red-ball cricket will have a similar three leagues of six teams format in 2021. Somerset, Hants, Sorry and Middx all in the same group!
Excellent, could be worse. At least we can't get rolled out by Harmer again next season (until the 2nd stage anyway :) ) and have also avoided Notts, Lancs and Yorks. Our games vs Leics will probably be rained off.

Cidermen sign Glamorgan's Marchant de Lange as an overseas player. I don't know anything about him, except that his name reminds me of the French national anthem.

He is a bit on the tall side isn't he? Wiki suggests 6'7".
