Hoping Warwickshire can do the business today against Yorkshire, would certainly make things a little more comfortable heading into the match at Chelmsford.
Currently (3pm) 110-0 in pursuit of 217...beginning to look a little handy?

Made hard work of it in the end, but won by three wickets. That result means Somerset have opened up a 31-point gap on them with a game in hand. Essex match will still be huge though - win there and it starts to look almost unassailable.

Somerset would do well to reach the close of play without losing a wicket, chasing 216 in an important top-of-the-table match that should produce a result.

One down but what a fight back from Somerset. Last time I looked Essex were 100+ for 1

Surrey should offer Mali women a friendly. They could do with playing someone at a similar level. :$
Another wretched batting “performance” against Warwicks today RP. (n)

Somerset's Pete Trego scores an unbeaten century in his first match for Debm.

Somerset 90-6. They need to at least make it to 160 to have a chance of avoiding defeat on this pitch. It doesn't look as though the rain will stop play for long enough to force a draw.

Second consecutive match at the Chelmsford crap hole where batting has been very difficult. Seamers rather than the spinner doing the damage this time.

Yes, utterly shambolic. A bit of fight today but still don't fancy our chances of setting Warwicks, who have a second string attack, many more than 200

Di Venuto on borrowed time, maybe they are saving themselves for the 20/20
