In RaWZ we trust....Amen.
One of my favourite Clash tracks is Clampdown it always blew me away when they played it live.

‘The Boss’ performed it on his live set for a few years,it is as good if not slightly better.
I don’t think Springsteen & the E Street band have recorded it in a studio ?

I reckon this will be controversial but here goes anyway.

Born to Run - Frankie goes to Hollywood.

If you don't go for this play it, then halfway through put on Springsteen's slow, boring dirge and you'll see what I mean.

Technically that's a singalong rather than a cover 🙂. Hard not to join in though.

Which reminds me they did a brilliant cover version on the Old Grey Whistle Test of the Jaques Brel song - Next (Au Suivant in the original french)

Scott Walker also did a good cover of the song

Louis Armstrong version of 'La Vie en Rose' deserves a mention as becoming the definitive version of the song despite not being the original.

Carter USM used to do some cracking covers, most notably 'Rent' and 'This Is How It Feels'

Neko Case's cover of Tom Waits' "Christmas Card From a Hooker in Minneapolis" also surpasses the original.

And I don't know who needs telling this, but the best version of 'Walk This Way' is by Sugababes vs Girls Aloud. (y)
