Saracens announce that they will not proceed with their appeal against sanctions.
I think they know when to stop digging. Salarycen's friends are few and far between these days. Trawling the Premiership fans forum should give you some idea. When they ran out at Gloucester the fans were waving fake £50 notes at them :D

It's quite an achievement to be more disliked than Leicester!

What is not clear is the current season. Will they be in contravention again if they fail to reduce their payroll ? In which case they could "cheat their way" to avoiding relegation. The Premiership have not helped things by keeping secret the outcome of their last purge on overspending.

Very likely, you'd think.......and a strange state of affairs that would be.

Northampton Saints might lighten Saracen's burden by signing Joel Kpoku. Meanwhile the Exeter Chiefs are said to be interested in taking Max Malins, the Saracen's reserve fly-half. The Barf DOR has lighten his salary cap by loaning out Mike Williams to Yorkshire Carnegie.

Towards the end of 2015, Premiership Rugby reached "confidential agreements" over "certain issues" with some of the clubs over the salary cap - in other words the names of cheating clubs weren't gonna see the light of day. Nine of the non-cheating clubs responded to this statement by issuing their own individual statements proclaiming that "their club had remained within the Salary Cap." The three remaining clubs who failed to issue similar statements were Barf, Saracens and Leicester.

The weird thing is that in spite being caught with their fingers in the cookie jar, Saracens carried on cheating for another three years.

Even weirder (although some might say predictable) that Premiership Rugby did nothing about it for another three years !

I do remember Bath getting a mention a few years back. Another club with a moneybags owner.

Premiership Rugby seem to at least want to be seen as acting tough, as reportedly they are asking Saracens to open their books for a mid season audit. However they have yet to determine whether they can legally force Sarries to comply should they refuse ! You would have really expected them to check that out first, doh !

Rumours of Chief's now mounting a legal challenge over loss of earnings due to being fiddled out of the title by Saracens. This could rumble on a while.
