With the first round coming before the start of the league season and the draw imminent its time to open this one up.

In RaWZ we trust....Amen.
Costly exercise this season, especially if the Grecians are drawn away.

The prize money in the competition is a paltry 5k for a first round win rising to 100k for the team lifting the trophy. It will be a premier league club who wins it , they don't like being forced to enter and the money is a drop in the ocean to them anyway. So why don't they devolve the money down to the lower rounds to help the needy ?

Could do this with the FA cup too.

Beats me why they have to charge on with all these competitions before they know the implications of crowd less games brought about by C19. With each match bringing a loss of cash until proper crowds can attend , the exact opposite of normal times , you’d think the powers that be would be minimalistic until they knew where things were going. It’s going to be expensive enough fulfilling the normal league commitments.

There’s money to be made if you can get to the third or fourth round and get that plum draw like Colchester did last season...otherwise....

Colchester got 25k for getting to the QFs on top of their 15k, 10k, 7k and 5k from the earlier rounds. Then they had the plum draw bonus. They ought to increase the prize money for the first rounds as the money for the final stages isn't exactly life changing and clubs need help at the moment.

Not that it really applies to us with our dismal showing in the League Cup :)

Presumably with no crowds permitted the best thing is to exit these competitions asp.

That can’t include their share of the gate for the Tottenham and Man U away match?

No that's just the prize money.
