Andy, storage of cans at home might be a problem for some. As a result I have just bought a can crusher from Ebay for about £9. This shrinks a can to about a fifth of the original size. Could the club shop possibly hold a stock of these for sale with suitable signs pointing to their use/help for the club?

It's certainly an idea, it would mean possibly a great outlay on stock and how many would/could they sell. Alternatively, place the said can on the ground, think it's the face of somebody you truly despise, and STAMP hard on it. You'll find your stress level decreases immensely, it is very satisfying and productive!

The collecting towards the next bulk load to go off for recycling has begun in earnest today with 14 bin liners full of crushed cans going into storage.
But please, ladies & gentlemen can i just repeat something from when Cans4City started, we can only recycle ALUMINIUM cans which are predominantly drinks cans, we cannot recycle STEEL cans which are mainly food tins and virtually worthless.
The price we are paid is dependent on our cans being ONLY aluminium and not mixed, ie Aluminium & steel.
Our volunteers have to spend valuable time sorting any bags of mixed cans, before they go off for recycling and we are then paid.
While not wishing to 'teach grannie to suck eggs', if you use a basic magnet, fridge magnets are ideal for this, if it sticks to the tin then it's STEEL and should be placed into our local authority recycling scheme, if it does not stick then it's ALUMINIUM and is what we would like to have, please!
While 99% of drinks cans are aluminium, there are still the odd one or two that are steel, some of the Falcon brand of lager are steel, but some are also aluminium, very complicated.

Mike, who died in Feb 2022, is probably the better known of the two of them and to modern day Grecians, through his editorship of the Award winning Grecian Match Day Programme for many years. Dave, who died in August 2002 aged only 49, was an ECFC Memorabilia collector and well known programme seller at the OG Turnstiles for many years as well as being a good friend of Mike Blackstone, both being fellow Exmothians.

That is very touching Andy, I briefly met Mike but knew Dave really well, I saw him not long before he passed away at his home, Even though he was quite ill then, He still had that sparkle as we chatted about ECFC, I'll not forget him and this is such a lovely memorial for two blokes who ECFC meant so much to them both, Just the thing Cans4City is good at doing. RIP Mike & Dave, Forever a Grecian.
