Yup, there is a horrible sinking feeling about the club at the moment. Hopefully the return of Hiram and a confidence-boosting victory will get us moving again. According to the radio, things just didn’t fall for us today.
were you thinking of Private Hudson flakey?

Wasn't expecting much today, Bury have been on fire and we haven't. I am taking comfort from us giving it a go today, at least in the 2nd half. Penalty misses are becoming a real problem for us. You don't actually have to be good at football for those, we probably all remember plenty of people at whatever level we played at who you just knew would score, and you would put your house on it, even for the pub teams. Out of 11 pro's on the pitch there must be a couple of those in there surely ?. Still think they are a good set of players for this level, and the sooner Boeteng is back the better UTC

PC, with respect you are showing a rather unhealthy and unsavoury interest in Tisdale's back passage or is it just that back passages are of general interest? :D
Quite apart from Tisdales back passage, he's also loading the Tisdale "hater's" gun and letting somebody else fire it!

Sweeney strikes a good dead ball he’ll probably score 9 out of the next 10 given the chance...Stockley lacks a bit of technique IMO

He certainly does, and had a strong record up until recently, but after missing he seemed to lose his knack. Could possibly be a nerves thing for him and needs to get one to calm them ?

I'm sure that Stockley has a good record (but not 100%) in penalties shoot outs. If you look at the video a few pages back, it's just a poorly hit shot, tame.

not sure of his record Hants, but it would certainly potentially give him an incredible goal tally if last season was anything to go by

To be fair Sweeney's pens were generally top quality until he started missing, then his confidence seemed to evaporate. He's our best penalty taker however he needed to be taken off them for his own benefit, if he had missed another one it would have been terrible for him, his performances have been bad enough lately without another penalty miss added to the mix.

Looking through our squad I'd probably say one of Holmes, Law or Lee Martin will be taking the next one however it obviously depends who is on the pitch when we have one.

Okay, a few things on the plus side from yesterday:

A lot more attempts to play football rather than sling the ball up front, especially second half.
Ogbene looked very good indeed when he was able to get on the ball.
Lee Martin had a good game when he came on, the first time I have thought so.
Nicky Law looked very comfortable in the centre and put in some excellent challenges defensively in that position.
We reacted well to going behind and put them on the back foot until we missed the penalty.

Get your money on us to beat Crewe.
